Rockfon shares its acoustical expertise at two industry events

Rockfon® presents research findings at industry events

NCAC Annual Members' Meeting

The National Council of Acoustical Consultants (NCAC) Annual Meeting will take place in Seattle on Nov. 2-3. An NCAC Platinum Sponsor, Rockfon will be exhibiting at Table #7 during the exhibition on Sat., Nov. 3, 8-11:30 a.m.

On display at NCAC will be acoustic stone wool Rockfon® Island™ Wall System and its Plenum Barrier Board.

  • Well suited for projects in need of acoustic improvement, our Island Wall System is tested to achieve a Noise Reduction Coefficient as high as NRC 1.15. Helping design professionals realize their vision for effective, attractive interiors, the stone wool panels may be installed at various angles and distances from the wall to produce one-of-a-kind patterns for each room.
  • When full-height walls are not available, our lightweight Rockfon Plenum Barrier Board works above our suspended acoustic ceilings to create a high-performing, sound insulation system. This approach provides Optimized Acoustics that meet or exceed industry requirements, and achieve the best sound experience at the best price.

Acoustics Week in Canada, Technical Session Presentation

The Acoustical Society of America (ASA)’s 176th Meeting is held in conjunction with the Canadian Acoustical Association (CAA) during the 2018 Acoustics Week in Canada, Nov. 5-9 in Victoria, British Columbia.

Rockfon will be attending the joint conference and is a CAA sustaining subscriber. On Wed., Nov. 7, 10:50-11:05 a.m., Rockfon’s acoustic specialist, Gary Madaras, PhD, INCE, will present “Look, do you see the noise leaking through the ceiling?”

In this Technical Session presentation, Madaras shows how the noise leaks in an acoustic ceiling system essentially disappear below background sound levels when lightweight, cost-effective Rockfon Plenum Barrier Board in combination with Rockfon stone wool acoustic ceilings are installed. Also shown is how acoustic ceilings crossover from being primarily sound-reflective to primarily sound-absorptive when the Noise Reduction Coefficient is increased beyond NRC 0.80.

Optimized Acoustics Research Program

Madaras has led the Optimized Acoustics Research Program for Rockfon since 2014. Through this program, he and the co-members research and test ways to optimize the acoustic performance of various types of interior wall and ceiling configurations to comply with the acoustical criteria in building standards, guidelines and rating systems in cost-efficient manners.
