The Electricité de Strasbourg group, an Alsatian energy company for nearly 120 years, has inaugurated the new coworking and meeting rooms. Because the well-being of employees and the layout of workspaces are key factors today, it was essential from the start of the project to provide optimal acoustic comfort. Following a call for tenders, the agency Richter architects and associates, Euro Sound Project (BE Acoustics and Audiovisual Engineering), and the company STAM Acoustique were selected for the renovation of these spaces where Rockfon Mono® Acoustic has been installed.
A project with both aesthetic and acoustic constraints
The renovation of the rooms was the subject of a very precise specifications. Indeed, the Electricité de Strasbourg group wanted its employees to benefit from modern, user-friendly workspaces with a very high level of acoustic comfort.
"A good acoustics allows the employees a well-being but what is derived is much more important, a better concentration but also a better productivity." indicates Daniel Wagner, Director of Digital, IT and Electricity infrastructure of Strasbourg. “Thanks to the Rockfon Mono® Acoustic® solution, the acoustics are very good and there is no excessive reverberation. Our employees enjoy working in these new rooms.”
The architect Anne-Laure Better of the Richter architectes et associés agency imagined workspaces and meeting rooms offering a serene and warm setting with large volumes, while working closely with Yves Kayser and his team of acoustic experts to ensure optimal acoustic comfort in every space.
“The challenge of this project was to transform the existing, obsolete and dark place into a comfortable and bright place with optimal acoustics and durable materials.” continues Anne-Laure Better. “The Rockfon Mono® Acoustic®, contributes to a quiet and hushed space, while allowing the integration of numerous equipment, including audiovisual, while maintaining its smooth and matte appearance.”
The Rockfon Mono® Acoustic® was installed by STAM Acoustique in the two rooms on the top floor under the roofs. The unique layout of the facility has been made possible by the multiple possibilities offered by Rockfon Mono® Acoustic®.
“The installation of the Rockfon Mono Acoustic in the spaces required that the joints be perfectly inserted around each integration of equipment so that the fine projection offers the expected aesthetic rendering and that the acoustics is optimal. We used a raking light on all surfaces before the fine projection of painting on the ceiling in order to ensure a perfect finish without roughness.” explains Pierre-Alain Mendler of STAM Acoustique and MyRockfon French member as IAMA (Mono Acoustic Approved Installer).
Following the installation of the grid system previously defined on the execution plan, the site workshop plan was coordinated around the different trades and expertise gathered for this project. The cohesion between the different facets of the project management has thus enabled this project to be carried out in two months. The aesthetic dimension and high acoustic performance of the Rockfon Mono® Acoustic® were able to provide the desired solution while preserving architectural design.
Mono® Acoustic®, a solution known for its acoustic performance
Perfect solution for ceiling or wall use, the Rockfon Mono® Acoustic® offers high acoustic performance. For example, Yves Kayser from Euro Sound Project carried out in situ acoustic measurements of these spaces before and after the installation of Rockfon Mono® Acoustic®. The results achieved met everyone’s expectations.
"The results of the in situ measurements are consistent with the preliminary assessments carried out during the study phase. The average reverberation time is 0.5 seconds. It perfectly meets the specifications established by Electricité de Strasbourg, according to the quality and versatility requirements sought." concludes Yves Kayser.
