From the Atrium to the shops all around the staircase, under this huge glass roof, it was necessary to find a solution to improve the acoustics while respecting the aesthetics of this emblematic place. Rockfon Mono Acoustic solutions have been selected to be installed on more than 3,000 m2 of ceilings around the Atrium, on all floors up to shops and corridors.
Rockfon Mono Acoustic: discrete islands and monolithic expanses
The Rockfon Mono Acoustic, chosen for its high acoustic properties, but also for its very adaptable aesthetic possibilities in the different spaces of La Samaritaine, is first deployed around the Atrium, but then on levels in galleries and shops.
In the central part of the Atrium, the Rockfon Mono Acoustic islands sur-mesure was chosen. Thus, at all levels of the Atrium, the bespoke islets integrate perfectly between the metal pillars and the volumes of the architectural structure proper to La Samaritaine.
All around the Atrium, there are galleries and shops. Here, it is the perfectly smooth and extended Rockfon Mono Acoustic that has been privileged on the ground floor or at the different levels. It offers to the customers a harmonious and bright experience in the stores.
A technical challenge: from tracing to lights integrations.
One of the technical challenges for this project was the tracing on the ground of all the equipments and lights that was going to be integrated into the ceilings, be it signage, signs or luminaires. No model in situ here, it was necessary to identify the distribution of all the required equipment and therefore their integration in the Rockfon Mono Acoustic.
Nabil Rharbaoui from DBS, a Rockfon Mono Acoustic approved installer (IAMA), explains: "We first had to create custom-made island to integrate these long luminaires in the Mono Acoustic islands. So we worked on smooth angles inside the islands The fine projection was done afterwards.”
The finished appearance is beautiful: the long luminaires seem almost levitating in the islands and the light is perfectly diffused on the smooth and matt surfaceof the Mono Acoustic.
The Rockfon Mono Acoustic has brought an important acoustic benefits everywhere there where hard surfaces, like metal pillars, the huge windows and the flow of visitors. This solution was also able to be installed in extended surface as well as custom-made islands This ceiling solution has met the challenges of technical integration while remaining perfectly faithful to the identity of La Samaritaine.
