Muotoilutoimisto Nuan was responsible for the interior design of Paytrail's Tampere office, which had also designed the company's Jyväkylä head office. Nuan's other entrepreneur and interior architect Sanna Laukanaho describes the big change that occurred in the office space when they started to plan and implement the space with an exposed concrete surface:
- Paytrail wanted workspaces that embody the company's brand, that support doing work and being comfortable, and that can be used for various purposes, from teamwork to evenings out. We already knew Paytrail's corporate culture very well and started planning with a strong focus on employees and doing work. We had a close dialogue with Paytrail and our starting point was that the work environment is an entity that supports the company's work culture and different work modes.
The new Rockfon Canva acoustic panels were transformed into a work of art
Paytrail's office is one of the first locations in Finland to use the new Rockfon Canva acoustics solution. It is an acoustic board that can be hung on the wall, and the outer fabric can be any color or illustration.
Rockfon Canva boards are pre-tinted according to Rockfon's own Colors of Wellbeing color series, and they can also be delivered with the customer's own graphics.
I wanted that when the eyes of those working in the office wander to the works, their thoughts can fly at the same time. A certain kind of cosmic image world is repeated in the works, which gives space to thoughts and creativity. The color schemes are also designed to support the functions performed in the premises.
Sanna Laukanaho
Interior architect, Design agency Nuan Oy
In Paytrail's premises, single-color Rockfon Canva boards of different sizes in Sage, Sandalwood, Eucalyptus, Mint, and Coral shades have been used, as well as illustrated boards, whose graphics were designed by Laukanaho himself. Single-colored and patterned plates form a unique collection of works.
- It was important in the design that things are not only beautiful, but everything must also have a functional angle. We wanted to create, for example, spaces that energize and encourage cooperation, as well as spaces intended for retreat and relaxation. The works realized on Rockfon Canva support this, says Laukanaho.
The space's acoustic solution also includes the ceiling-mounted Rockfon Color-All suspended ceiling panels in the shades Sandalwood and Sage, and the Rockfon Eclipse panels in the shades Eucalyptus, Mint and Sage hanging from the ceiling. In the higher room, the Rockfon Charcoal As acoustic panels attached to the ceiling next to the windows do their part in improving the room's acoustics.
Installation like hanging a board on the wall
In addition to the fact that Rockfon Canva acoustic panels look like a work of art, hanging them is as easy as attaching a board to the wall.
I was positively surprised at how high quality the Rockfon Canva was. I can definitely recommend it to my other clients.
Matti Paananen
CEO, Celtic-Rakennus Oy
- Installation of Rockfon Canva was very fast. Acoustic products that are often installed on the wall require a molding system around them, which means that installation requires more drilling, screwing and fixing. But installing Rockfon Canva was like installing a regular blackboard on the wall, says Matti Paananen from Celtic-Rakennus Oy, who was responsible for the installation.
The acoustic panels were installed very late in the project. The construction contractor had already handed over the site to the users and the furnishing of the premises was underway.
- Canva boards are sensitive and valuable products, so it is best to install them as late as possible. The only dirt caused by the installation is plaster or concrete dust from the drill hole.
Users praise the appearance of the acoustic panels
According to Jenni Penna, the company's Market Place Team Lead, Paytrail's office in Tampere is an open office where acoustic solutions supplied by Rockfon are everywhere. An open office environment requires decent acoustics to function.
- The people working in the office have liked the appearance of the acoustic panels. They have a really beautiful illustration. They look more like art on the wall and don't jump out at all. Rockfon Canva boards fit harmoniously into their surroundings, even though they are acoustic boards.
Penna also states that if other offices needed a new acoustic solution, the model of the Tampere office would certainly be suitable elsewhere as well:
- I have no doubt that a similar solution could not be applied to our office in Jyväskylä, for example. It's always more interesting when you get unique elements on the wall and not just single-colored plates.
