The new Linnéuniversitetet offers city pulse, large areas and good acoustics
The total 65,000 square meter university has been built by Skanska and is certified according to LEED Gold. With the buildings' certification according to LEED Gold, the university also lives up to high requirements in terms of, among other things, energy and indoor climate. Overall for the entire project is the choice of smart, modern and sustainable solutions. To ensure comfortable room acoustics, Rockfon has been chosen as one of its suppliers.
Modern and future-proof
-The new Linnéuniversitetet is the definition of what can be called a modern university for the students of the future and all details are carefully selected and follow a clear design concept. Says Per Becker, project buyer at Skanska and continues:
- When it comes to acoustics in particular, there are many large open areas here, which makes demands. To ensure a good sound and study environment, we have chosen several acoustic solutions, one of which is Rockfon's acoustic suspended ceilings.
Flexibility guides the way
When designing a university environment, it is important to think in flexible solutions and in orientability. When society changes, the university must be able to adapt accordingly. That is the opinion of the architect Linda Camara, at Tengbom, which is the architectural firm behind Universitetskajen Östra. She tells:
- It is important to think about flexibility over time and that it is easy to adapt the solutions to the university programs. It is intended that there should be both planned and spontaneous meetings everywhere. However, it places demands on the acoustics. With Rockfon, we have had the opportunity to tailor the solutions, change the color of the structures and tiles and choose the format. It has been important for us as the suspended ceilings are very important.
