Climate protection meets indoor comfort – a building campus with a vision for the future
A modern office complex has been built in Düsseldorf that already meets the German government’s CO₂ climate protection targets for 2045. Those who work here focus on energy, mobility and sustainability, and work in spaces that are just as futuro-oriented as the topics they deal with.
The designers opted for durable, resource-efficient materials and placed great emphasis on well-thought-out acoustic planning from the outset. The result: meeting rooms and offices where conversations flow more smoothly, speech intelligibility is significantly higher and overall noise levels are noticeably reduced. Staff find their working environment calm and conducive to concentration.
The challenge: Acoustics with core-activated ceilings
At the heart of the energy concept are core-activated ceilings. They enable particularly efficient heating and cooling – but present a special challenge for acoustic planning: conventional suspended ceilings are not feasible here, as they would impair the function of the ceiling systems.
An independent acoustic consultant from Dezibel-Werk GmbH in Düsseldorf analysed the room acoustics requirements and developed a bespoke solution. The focus was not only on measurable acoustic improvements, but also on the project’s high design standards.
The solution: wall absorbers and ceiling panels
Around 48 m² of Lamella wall absorbers and 62 Eclipse ceiling panels from Rockfon were installed. Both products are made from recyclable stone wool and meet the highest standards for indoor air quality. Thanks to the modular clip system, the real wood slats of Rockfon Lamella are easy to install. The frameless Eclipse ceiling panels impress in the office spaces with their smooth, super-white surface offering high light reflection and are available in a wide range of colours and shapes.
The result is office spaces that benefit from the full performance of the core-activated ceilings whilst simultaneously meeting the sustainability requirements of the entire building in every respect.
