Support IAQ plans with Rockfon’s stone wool ceiling products

Rockfon’s complete portfolio of acoustic stone wool ceiling products has earned UL® Environment’s GREENGUARD Gold certification for low-emitting materials.

Stone wool features naturally inherent properties for superior ceiling performance characteristics, including high sound absorption, and resistance to humidity, water, mold and other microorganisms.

The combined natural attributes of our stone wool products contribute to indoor air quality (IAQ), healthy and safe building interiors, and occupants’ wellness.

Every day across North America, Rockfon ceiling solutions are there, releasing the power of stone to enrich modern living to help make life a little quieter, healthier, safer, more sustainable, more productive, and more beautiful for generations to come.

Improving Interiors

GREENGUARD is an internationally recognized product emissions certification and labeling program for manufacturers of low-emitting indoor products, furnishings and materials.

The benefit of GREENGUARD Gold-certified products are recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® v4 Indoor Environmental Quality (EQ) category. In addition to the use of low-emitting materials, EQ also promotes acoustic treatments for quieter, more comfortable interior spaces.

Optimized acoustics, combined with low-emitting products and materials, support your IAQ plans, as well as the newest building codes. More than 400 green building codes, standards, guidelines, procurements policies and rating systems give credit for GREENGUARD Certified products.

Protecting People

High levels of noise, CO2, chemicals, pollutants and contaminants can lead people to lose concentration and become more irritated. The impact of these can extend into even more negative health affects and consequences. Material emissions also can be associated with bad odors and headaches. The people most susceptible to pollutants emitted from building materials are the elderly, people with compromised immune systems and children.

Children breathe in more air and, as a result, are absorbing more chemicals that can be harmful to their growing bodies. Because most children spend the majority of their year inside school buildings, these projects deserve extra attention. The Collaborative for High Performance Schools’ Criteria (CHPS) includes low-emitting materials and GREENGUARD Gold Certified products, such as our stone wool acoustic ceiling tiles.

Wellness and health are integral to both the design and mission of hospitals, medical clinics, senior care facilities and hospices. IAQ and GREENGUARD Gold Certified products help protect the health and safety of the patients and elderly residents within these spaces.

Confirmed Certification

“People spend most of their time indoors, making it critical that materials brought inside emit the fewest possible pollutants,” said Sara Greenstein, president of UL Environment. “We are pleased to award Rockfon’s ceiling panels with our highest certification for low chemical emissions, recognizing its efforts to make its products healthier for people in the indoor environment.”

To achieve certification, Rockfon voluntarily submitted its North American stone wool product line of suspended ceilings, clouds and baffles to a series of rigorous tests as determined by UL Environment. During the strict manufacturing review, our product samples were selected for profile study testing, as well as comprehensive certification testing.

GREENGUARD Gold Certification is only given to products that are compliant with the certification requirements, which among others, include stringent limits on emissions of more than 360 volatile organic compounds (VOCs). GREENGUARD Certification emission criteria incorporate health-based emissions requirements as denoted among others by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the State of California Department of Public Health’s Section 01350.

To maintain GREENGUARD Gold Certification, Rockfon North America stone wool products are audited regularly by UL Environment.
