Movement Mortgage, one of the nation’s fastest-growing retail mortgage lenders, opened a corporate headquarters and National Sales Support Center to support its innovation, collaboration and continued growth.

Culture, Wellness and Collaboration

The company set its new home on a 22-acre site within the Bailes Ridge Corporate Park in Fort Mills, South Carolina. The Keith Corporation, the project developer and property owner, worked with LS3P to create Movement Mortgage’s new facility. The building’s design reinforces the company’s brand and culture, and promotes wellness and collaboration between employees.

Movement Mortgage office’s modern aesthetic showcases an exterior constructed of concrete, glass and metal, and an interior with plentiful daylight, glass partitions, wood floors and high ceilings. Workstations are positioned in an open floor plan with additional areas designated for enclosed executive suites, training and conference rooms, an employee café and a fitness center.

When workspaces combine hard material surfaces and open plans, extra attention is needed to ensure a positive, healthy and productive acoustic experience. Meeting the challenge, a combination of Rockfon acoustic stone wool ceiling panels, suspension systems and perimeter trim was provided by distributor Delta Gypsum and installed by contractor Bonitz, Inc.

Rockfon Artic® 2-by-2-foot and 2-by-4-foot acoustic stone wool ceiling panels with square tegular narrow edge design are supported by a Chicago Metallic™ Tempra™ 4000 HRCmax™ 9/16-inch suspension system. A high-value economical ceiling choice used throughout the building, these systems define both the traditional grid layouts and the suspended acoustic clouds. Sprinklers, air exchanges, lighting fixtures and other equipment are accommodated within these ceiling designs. Along the visible edge, Rockfon® Infinity™ Perimeter Trim creates a neat, clean appearance.

Rockfon Alaska® DMT 2-by-2-foot acoustic stone wool panels were directly mounted to the underside of the exposed structure in areas where high ceilings and an open industrial look was preferred, and sound absorption was required.

 Performance-Driven Benefits

Drawing the exterior daylight more deeply into Movement Mortgage’s open office interior and dispersing it more effectively, Rockfon Artic and Alaska panels’ smooth, white surface reflects up to 86 percent of available light.

Rockfon acoustic stone wool ceiling solutions also have earned UL® Environment’s GREENGUARD Gold Certification for low chemical emissions, contributing to healthier indoor air quality.

Further enhancing the employees’ wellness, Rockfon’s metal and stone wool ceiling products contain no organic compounds, which means they do not support mold or microbial growth.

Combining optimized acoustics, maximized daylighting and high-quality indoor air not only are recognized as helping reduce absenteeism, but also contributes to employees’ comfort, concentration, satisfaction and productivity.

Productivity and Growth

“Relationships matter and proximity matters. When we get team members face-to-face at the same location, we see exponential productivity,” said Movement Mortgage’s chief executive and co-founder Casey Crawford.

Crawford, a former Carolina Panthers player, started the company in 2008 with Toby Harris and four employees. Today, they employ more than 4,000 people including 700 at its Fort Mills headquarters.

The $22 million built-to-suit facility was completed by Choate Construction Co. on a fast-track, 10-month schedule. At its grand opening in March 2016, Crawford stated, “We built this beautiful headquarters expecting to be only half-full on our move-in day. Instead, we’re already near full capacity and discussing a second phase in the future. There are no signs our growth is slowing down.”

Those predicted plans are becoming a reality. The second-phase expansion broke ground in December 2017 to make room for another 700 new employees in the next five years.
