Albemarle’s LEED Gold headquarters showcase Rockfon ceilings
Supporting a sustainable, energy-efficient, comfortable and productive office environment
Albemarle Corporation, a leader in the global specialty chemicals industry, selected the Capitol Towers development in Charlotte, North Carolina, for its office headquarters. Demonstrating its commitment to the environment and energy-efficiency, as well as to the health and comfort of its employees, the project earned LEED Gold certification through the U.S. Green Building Council.
Supporting office spaces’ LEED criteria and sustainable design goals, Rockfon ceiling systems contribute to energy savings by maximizing daylighting through light reflectance (0.85 LR) and enhance workers’ comfort by optimizing acoustics with high sound absorption (up to 0.95 NRC). The ceiling panels also provide easy access to the plenum, simplifying future upgrades and flexible floor plans.
Classical Exterior, Modern Interior
Albemarle occupies two floors of the Capital Towers’ South Tower property, which is owned and managed by Lincoln Harris. Designed by LS3P Associates Ltd., the building was envisioned as Classical Pavilions and constructed by Shelco LLC.
For the office interiors, Albemarle embraced a clean, modern aesthetic. To achieve the desired look and acoustic performance, NC Interiors Contracting installed more than 35,000 square feet of:
''From the beginning, our goal was to create a workplace that would inspire creativity, foster collaboration and generate pride for our employees,” said Luke Kissam, Albemarle's chairman, president and chief executive officer. “Thanks to our dedicated project team, we have accomplished this goal, and we have done so in a way that demonstrates Albemarle's commitment to sustainability.''
