The benefits of light weight
Back injuries are the single biggest cause of absenteeism from the workplace, often caused by manual handling activities, e.g. the lifting and carrying of loads. As such, Rockfon’s lightweight products not only contribute to a better workplace, but are also an economical factor for contractors. The light weight is also helpful for installation on high floors where lifts or cranes are used.

For a 300m2 project, the Rockfon ceiling tiles will weigh approximately 580Kg.
This is 50% lower than the equivalent wet felted mineral fibre products and 75% lower than Gypsum based products.

As a consequence of their light weight, Rockfon is able to offer solutions that can be installed faster and more economically.

• For standard A and E edges, Rockfon products can be installed in FasTrac grids that require 33% less hangers. This means 33% less drilling in the soffit, 33% less top fixings, 33% less hangers and 33% less main runners – all in all enhanced flexibility and at least 20% installation time saving – what will you do with the time you save?
• For concealed edges, Rockfon provides the RockLink 24 Monolith system. This system negates the need for complex and time consuming primary and secondary grid components reducing grid material costs and installation time by 20%.

Rockfon ceilings are dimensionally designed in such a way that uplifting of tiles has not been an issue for the last 10 years.

The benefits of easy cutting

The lower density of Rockfon tiles not only reduces the weight and increases sound absorption, it also enables installers to cut the tiles with only 1 stroke.

No machinery is necessary. Instead a normal craft / carpet knife can be used. Cutting Rockfon tiles does not generate dust and thus can be done inside the building on the installation site.

The fact that Rockfon tiles have a lower density also reduces resistance to cutting. This yields to more precision which in turn makes the installation neater and generates less waste.

Rockfon ceilings are less brittle and less friable than other technologies.

The benefits of flexibility

One of the most important key performance indicators for contractors is finishing the project on time. Rockfon ceilings can contribute to this goal as our ceilings can be installed even when a building is not hermetically closed or if the HVAC has yet to be commissioned. This means that delays from other tradesmen will not necessarily hinder or delay the ceiling installation. Even though we do not recommend the storage of Rockfon ceilings outside, they will perform significantly better than any competitor’s ceiling tiles when stored in varying humidity and environmental conditions.
